“College is only four years because if you live through it you shouldn’t press your luck.”
We recently posted about having turned in all our papers as undergraduate students. The remaining weeks before graduation flew by, until graduation day finally arrived. It was wonderful yet fleeting; we heard a great commencement address from Arianna Huffington, drank champagne and ate strawberries on the lawn, and met each others families under a light spring rain shower. And then in a blink of an eye, the day was done! As with so many of life’s biggest moments that you’ve anticipated for months and months – in what feels like a moment, it’s all over! Luckily our friends were all on trains and in cars into New York City, where we planned a post-graduation get-together for our friends and families downtown. We worked with the wonderful ladies at JPO concepts who hosted us in one of their beautiful penthouse spaces, that had a rooftop with a perfect NYC view. Nosurefooting was in charge of decorations, but we’ll tell you more about that in our next post.
More important than the decorations, however, we wanted our friends to have something special to take away after our amazing four years together. We have a mutual love for mason jars and cute notes and decided to make a jar for each of our friends with memories, words of wisdom and love. We got our friends to write anonymous notes to each other, either by hand or email (we did the writing for those ones) and put them in their respective jars. We set up a table at the party with extra slips of paper for our families to add to the jars as well. Everyone took part, and by the end of the night the jars were overflowing. Of course all the joy, good tidings, memories, and love we shared over the last four years could not be stored in these little jars, but it felt nice leaving that night with a something to hold onto. We’ve already reviewed our jars many times since then.
