a very fall feeling

This weekend really felt like fall.  It was sunny but crisp outside – this might be my favorite NYC weather.  It always comes and goes so quickly, so we took advantage of it while we could!

A little proseco makes everything better.

We stumbled across a small farmers market in our neighborhood, and got these delicious apples.  Doesn’t it look like the apple from Snow White?  One bite and all your dreams will come true…

All of those delicious veges turned into a vegetable pot pie, which we adapted from Smitten Kitchen’s chicken pot pie recipe.  It felt like Thanksgiving because the meal was so hearty and comforting.  We also all had three helpings.  And ate the leftovers for breakfast.  It was delicious.

The rest of the weekend was spent crafting for my roommate Cat’s upcoming event.  She works for Get Dirty NYC!, a non-profit that connects volunteers to NYC’s gardens and farms.  They are doing really cool stuff.  Go to their website here and check it out. They asked NSF to help decorate their upcoming Harvest Festival at The Commons in Brooklyn (they have a working rooftop farm!)

Here’s a little preview of what I’m working on.  I enlisted the roomies, so I had a craft army at work in our living room.  I couldn’t have been happier about that.
