not-so-advent calendar

Do you remember those delicious Advent calendars that had chocolate for each day leading up to Christmas? Yum. Many handmade advent calendars have little gifts for each day or activities for the family to do.  Like this one.

I missed making a calendar that led up to Christmas so I decided to make one leading up to New Years Eve! It took a few (many) hours but it’s such a fun thing to have around the house that it’s all worth it in the end. Instead of chocolate or presents I just wrote little festive notes and quotes for each day.

This would also make a GREAT birthday present! I made one leading up to my best friend’s birthday this year. I stuck a bunch of matchboxes together so they opened like little drawers. It was a huge hit.

For this calendar I drew out a stick christmas tree and outlined it with chunky silver glitter. Then stuck on some mini clothes pins to hold the notes in place. The clothes pins were an ugly yellow so I dunked them with glitter too! I then wrote out a bunch of cute notes and sealed them with washi tape or twine. And that’s it!

Supplies!

Glitter!

Words! (remember this?)

Cute!

Before and After

I hope you are enjoying the lovely holiday season!
